Clarinet & Saxophone
Michael Perrett is a musician based in Manchester. He plays clarinet and saxophone.
As a composer he has had work performed and broadcast across the UK by groups including The Tallis Scholars, The House of Bedlam and EXAUDI.
As an improvisor, he has enjoyed collaborating with some of the UK’s leading musicians and has contributed to recordings issued by Confront Recordings (UK) and Creative Sources (Portugal) as well as numerous self-releases.
With guitarist David Birchall and pianist/accordion player Adam Fairhall, he plays with the band
Minimum Wage Immanence Unit who attempt to find the meeting point between drone, free
improvisation and half-remembered folksong.
A graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, he also had a brief period of private study in Canada with the clarinettist and composer Lori Freedman.
